Ukraine refuses to exclude Raiffeisen Bank from list of war sponsors – Reuters

Ukraine has refused to finally exclude the Austrian Raiffeisen Bank from the list of companies sponsoring the war, since Kyiv doubts that the bank really plans to leave the Russian Federation. This is reported by Reuters.

It is noted that in a letter sent to Raiffeisen in early February, Ukrainian officials questioned what the bank was doing to leave Russia, saying that most of his plans were vague and incomplete.

In addition, in the letter, the Ukrainian side indicates that there are still a number of blind spots that prevent the bank from being removed from the list.

“There is no timetable for the sale… it remains unclear when, if at all, the separation scenario could work,” the Ukrainian officials said in a letter.

“Raiffeisen intended to spin off its Russian business last year, but this has not happened yet. A Raiffeisen spokesman said the bank could not give a time frame for its exit from Russia as it depends on regulatory approval,” the report said.

Officials also expressed concern about Raiffeisen's loan schemes for Russian soldiers, which it supports. according to the bank, it is mandatory in Russia.
