Tinkoff Bank begins operating in occupied Crimea

Russian Tinkoff Bank will begin operating in occupied Crimea. Interfax writes about this with reference to the bank's support service.

In July 2023 year, Tinkoff Bank came under sanctions from the USA and Canada, in February of the same year it was included in the EU sanctions list, in May – in the UK

The EU explains the sanctions by saying that the bank operates in a sector that provides “significant income » to the Russian state.

In April 2022, Vladimir Potanin’s Interros bought 35% of the Tinkoff group from Oleg Tinkov’s family. The founder and former owner of a minority stake in Tinkov Bank said that he was forced to sell the asset for next to nothing due to criticism of the authorities on Instagram.
