Denmark guaranteed support for Ukraine for the next ten years and announced assistance worth $250 million

Denmark has signed an agreement guaranteeing military assistance to Ukraine over the next ten years. The Scandinavian country also announced a military aid package worth DKK 1.7 billion (about $250 million). This was stated by Prime Minister of Denmark Matte Frederiksen at a press conference on Thursday, February 22, Dr.dk reports.

The new package of military assistance includes funding for the purchase of 15 thousand artillery shells, air defense and drones.

Frederiksen called on the allies to increase the volume of military assistance Ukraine.

“If we don’t stand together, Europe potentially won’t,” she said.

Frederiksen also called on allies to increase military assistance to Ukraine, which is fighting Russian aggression.

Funds for the new assistance will be taken from the 7 billion kroner ($1 billion) that Denmark allocated to the fund created for civil, military and business contributions from Ukraine in March last year.

Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen said his country is working “at full capacity” to be able to deliver the first F-16 aircraft to Ukraine this summer.

Denmark's help

The total amount of assistance from Denmark to Ukraine, including the new package, will amount to 34.5 billion kroner ($5 billion). This does not include Danish support through the EU. Civil support amounts to about 3 billion crowns ($435 million).

Donations include: 407 Stringer missiles, aircraft weapon parts, mine clearance equipment, more than 100 Leopard 1 tanks, 14 Leopard tanks -2″, 54 M113 armored personnel carriers, artillery shells and much more.

The “Ministry of Finance” wrote that Denmark is contributing 91 million Danish kroner ($13.3 million) for projects on support for the development of cybersecurity and defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
