Negotiations with Ukraine on joining the European Union will be renewed until the beginning of summer 2024. The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced this in Brussels.

She noted that the framework for negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU will not be ready for the European elections, which will be held from June 6 to 9.

“We are making excellent progress in the screening process. This is very good. And we are working on the negotiation framework. My best guess is that they will not be ready before the European elections, but after them, because I see different negotiating positions developing. This will take time. But I think that in the summer, at the beginning of the summer, we will be ready,” von der Leyen said.

Recall

In December, the leaders of EU member states approved the start of negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to block.
