Biden announced more than 500 new sanctions against Russia

The United States is introducing more than 500 new sanctions against the Russian Federation in response to the ongoing war of conquest against Ukraine and due to the death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny. This is stated in a statement by President Joe Biden, published on the White House website.

The new sanctions will target individuals associated with Navalny's imprisonment, as well as the Russian financial sector, military-industrial base, procurement networks and sanctions evaders on many continents.

“They (the sanctions – ed.) guarantee that Putin will pay an even greater price for his aggression abroad and repression at home,” the statement said.

The United States is also imposing new export restrictions on nearly 100 organizations that support the Russian war machine.

p>“We are taking measures to further reduce Russia’s energy income. And I have directed my team to strengthen support for civil society, independent media and those fighting for democracy around the world,” Biden emphasized.

He also called on the US House of Representatives to approve a bill providing aid to Ukraine.

“Two years into this war, the people of Ukraine continue to fight with tremendous courage. But they are running out of ammunition. Ukraine needs additional supplies from the United States to hold the line against Russia's relentless attacks from weapons and ammunition from Iran and North Korea. That’s why the House of Representatives must pass a bipartisan supplemental national security bill before it’s too late,” Biden said.

Recall

The Treasury Department wrote that the EU approved the next, 13th, package of sanctions against Russia. It is aimed at further restricting access to military technologies and expanding the list of companies that help in the war – their number has exceeded 2 thousand.
