In January, banks issued 676 mortgage loans totaling UAH 1.1 billion – NBU

The volume of mortgage loans provided to the population in January 2024 compared to the previous month (December 2023) decreased by a third, while at the same time more than double the figure for the same period last year (January 2023). This is stated in NBU data.

Issue of mortgages

Seven banks that provided loans for the purchase of housing were informed about the issuance of new mortgages in January. The majority of transactions were still concluded on the secondary real estate market.

As the NBU notes, the driver of the mortgage segment remains preferential lending within the framework of the eOselya program (almost all loans over the past year were provided within the framework of this program).< br>

Loan rate

Weighted average effective rate on mortgage loans in January for the third month in a row remained at the level of 7.6% per annum.

Where the most were issued

Regionally, the largest number of mortgage loans in January was issued in Kiev and the Kiev region – 300 contracts for a total amount of UAH 555 million (50% of the total volume), Odessa (49 contracts for UAH 71.6 million), Lviv (32 for UAH 59.4 million) and Vinnitsa (32 for UAH 53.6 million. ) areas.
