Kyrgyzstan will stop accepting payment cards of the Russian Mir system

What is known

The decision was made due to US sanctions against the National Payment Card System (NSCP) – the operator of the payment system ” Mir.”

The NSPK told Frank Media that Elcart will stop servicing Mir cards as early as April 3.

As Elkarta explained, the service of Mir cards is being stopped in order to “minimize the risk of secondary sanctions” against the payment system of Kyrgyzstan. In this regard, it will not be possible to withdraw cash from ATMs or transfer funds from the Mir card in Kyrgyzstan.

Internet payments and payment for purchases by card at POS terminals will also be unavailable.

Earlier, the Ministry of Finance wrote that cards of the Russian payment system “Mir” stopped working in ATMs and POS terminals of most banks in Armenia from March 30, 2024.
