Gold exceeded $2,400 per ounce for the first time in history

The price of an ounce of gold on the New York Mercantile Exchange reached a historical high of $2,400 per ounce.

Quotations for June contracts for gold on the New York Comex Exchange by 12:00 Kyiv time jumped by 1.7% to $2,413.9 per ounce. Since the beginning of the year, the precious metal has increased in price by more than 14%.

In addition, the spot price of silver increased by 2% to $29.04 per ounce, reaching its highest level since the beginning of 2021.

< p>Platinum rose 1.7% to $996.36, and palladium strengthened 0.5% to $1,051.50.
