Labor market: almost half of enterprises complain about problems finding workers

The share of businesses that are experiencing problems with recruiting staff has continued to grow since the beginning of the year. In March, half of the entrepreneurs named the lack of staff as one of the main obstacles to work. Such data from a monthly survey of business sentiment was released by the Institute of Economic Research and Political Consulting, Ukrinform reports.

“In March 2024, difficulties in finding workers increased, both skilled and unskilled. The share of surveyed enterprises having problems recruiting qualified personnel increased from 31.0% in February to 38.9% in March.

A similar situation is observed with the search for unskilled workers: the percentage of those who find it difficult to find them has increased significantly – from 26.5% in February to 31.7% in March,” the report says.

The IED notes , that the lack of personnel as a significant problem has been noted by Ukrainian business in the survey for several months. In March, about 50% of respondents noted this.

“In March, for the first time, half of the businesses we surveyed indicated that this is a significant obstacle to business. further work For example, in 2022, only about 20% of respondents spoke about a labor shortage.

Last year, this obstacle became a little more urgent and was pointed out by about a third of those surveyed, and by the end of 2023 this obstacle began to constantly grow,” noted IED senior researcher Evgeniy Angel.
