International assistance

The NBU noted that in March about $9 billion was received from international partners, which made it possible to increase international reserves to almost $44 billion. In addition, another a tranche from the EU in the amount of 1.5 billion euros.

“Taking this into account, Ukraine can count on $38 billion in external budget assistance this year. At the same time, measures are being implemented to strengthen Ukraine’s ability to be self-sufficient. The government is strengthening its own resource base and increasing attraction to the domestic market,” the National Bank reported.

It is added that, for its part, the NBU is improving currency control measures. Together with establishing the rhythm of external assistance, this will make it possible to finance planned budget expenditures and maintain a controlled situation in the foreign exchange market.
