“I am pleased today to announce the launch of a program called USAID Harvest, directly aimed at investing in the future of Ukraine’s agricultural sector. Over 5 years, USAID will invest more than $250 million to restore and expand the agricultural sector so that it can thrive both during and after war,” she said.
According to her, the American agency is changing its focus on the future needs of Ukraine's agriculture and will support the diversification of its exports and the production of products with higher added value.
What the program assumes
The harvest will be supported micro, small and medium-sized grain and oilseed producers to expand their export markets so they can further support the Ukrainian economy.
Coleman added that the Harvest program will aim to strengthen agricultural exports by an additional $1.5 billion and attract an additional $500 million in private investment.
Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Denis Bashlyk noted that many Ukrainian farmers have already completed the third season with the support of the USAID “AGRO” project.
Remember
In January, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy announced that enterprises providing services for the processing and storage of agricultural products, under the USAID Agricultural and Rural Development Program (AGRO), will receive co-financing for the development of elevator capacities for a total amount of up to UAH 270 million.
