This became known from documents released in connection with the antitrust lawsuit of the US Department of Justice against Google, which claims that Alphabet illegally monopolized the online search market and related advertising.
The company hoped to hide the amount. Last fall, at the trial, Apple executives said that Google paid billions without specifying a figure.
It is noteworthy that Apple's payments from Google in 2020 amounted to 17.5% of the iPhone maker's operating profit.
