Global sales of all-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles rose 13% in June compared to the same month in 2023, driven by growth in China, while EV sales fell in Europe. This was reported by Reuters, citing data from Rho Motion.

China accounts for more than 60% of the total due to the growing affordability of electric vehicles and high sales of BYD vehicles.
Hybrid sales Global plug-in electric vehicle (PHEV) sales reached 1.4 million in July, with 0.86 million in China, up 25% year-on-year.
In Europe, monthly sales fell 7% to 0.30 million, with Finland, Ireland and the Netherlands recording the biggest declines, while Italy recorded a 34% increase following government stimulus.
In the US and Canada, PHEV sales rose 6% to 0.14 million in the same month.
BYD's sales in Brazil rose sharply, helping to more than triple June 2023 levels.
“The big picture is that “We don't see the kind of ambitious growth (in sales) that some in the industry might have hoped for in 2024, and we've cut our forecast by 5% to 16.6 million EVs sold this year,” said Rho Motion data manager Charles Lester.
