During the conversation, Marchenko noted the needs for financing the state budget deficit of Ukraine in 2025. After all, continuing to counter Russia’s criminal actions requires Ukraine to finance the security and defense sector in the amount of more than $3 billion per month.

He also thanked the UK for its strong support during a period of unprecedented historical challenges, noting the importance of helping to ensure Ukraine's financial stability. The timely resources provided made it possible to effectively resist the aggressor.

“We are grateful to the UK government for its leadership in supporting Ukraine. Your important and bold decisions taken in the first months of Russia’s full-scale invasion have become a positive example for other partners.

Financial, military, and sanctions support are the basis of our success and the success of the entire civilized world. Cooperation between the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine and the UK Treasury has always been effective, and I am sure it will continue to be so,” Marchenko noted.

The UK Chancellor of the Exchequer assured Ukraine of Ukraine’s continued support and readiness to deepen the partnership.
