Ukrenergo plans to buy electricity from private businesses, which will build decentralized generation, including gas power plants. We are talking about long-term contracts concluded after the auction. Chairman of the Board of Ukrenergo Vladimir Kudrytsky spoke about this in an interview with Public.

“We, as Ukrenergo, will buy balancing services from new power plants for 5 years, essentially, the energy system. We will enter into a contract with power plants that have not yet been built for 5 years in advance. We undertake to buy the balancing service from them at a price determined at the auction,” said Kudritsky.
According to him, this contract can be brought to the bank and a loan can be obtained against it. Thus, private businesses will be able to calculate their financial investment models for 5 years in advance.
First auction
In a few weeks, perhaps two or three, Ukrenergo will announce the first such auction for investors who are ready to build a new decentralized generation in Ukraine, based on the results of which they will conclude such five-year contracts.
“I really hope that the volume of participants in this auction will be a value that will be close to the same 1 gigawatt about which they talk a lot. It is very important for investors to come and receive such a long-term instrument for themselves as a contract with us for the purchase of their services, which they will provide to the Ukrainian energy system for 5 years,” said Kudrytsky.
