More than 5 thousand companies became involved in criminal cases in 2023, according to court registry data. In total, a record 43 thousand documents with relevant references to business were recorded last year. This year, about 3 thousand companies have already become involved in such cases. 5015 Ukrainian private companies were mentioned in the court register as persons involved in criminal cases for 2023. Among them, six companies were involved in cases of legalization (laundering) of proceeds from crime, and four in cases of collaboration activities.
2023 was a record year for the number of open criminal proceedings against businesses – 43,138 cases. This is the highest figure since 2012.
2839 companies have already become involved in criminal proceedings in 2024. Of these, one company is mentioned in the context of charges for high treason, three for collaboration and another 10 for money laundering.
It should be noted that up to 80% of criminal cases against businesses do not have verdicts or the cases do not even reach court Companies receive paper letters from the prosecutor's office to close cases, but cannot use these documents to confirm their reputation due to its paper format, the strength of which is difficult to verify.
