EU preliminarily approves €4.22 billion for Ukraine

The European Commission gave a positive assessment to the first regular payment of about 4.2 billion euros under the Ukraine Facility program, aimed at supporting the macro-financial stability of Ukraine and the functioning of its public administration. What is known

Based on the results of the assessment of the payment request submitted by Ukraine on July 9, 2024, the European Commission concluded that Kyiv has satisfactorily fulfilled nine reform indicators. This decision must still be approved by the Council of the European Union.

These reforms cover public financial management, management of state-owned enterprises, the business environment, energy and mine clearance.

This decision will bring the total amount of funding provided to Ukraine from the EU since the launch of the program in March this year to 12 billion euros.

Ukraine recently signed an agreement with the EU on grants for 5.27 billion euros.

According to the Plan for the Ukraine Facility, during the 3rd quarter of 2024, Ukraine plans to fulfill the following 9 indicators, which will allow receiving 4 billion euros in September 2024, including 1.5 billion euros in grant funding.

In total, in 2024, Ukraine expects to receive 16 billion euros of support, of which 3 billion euros will be grant assistance.

At the end of June, Ukraine received from the European Union a tranche of financial support in the amount of 1.9 billion euros under the Ukraine Facility program.
