The Cabinet of Ministers approved changes to the state budget, which propose to increase the expenditure side of the budget by UAH 500.3 billion, of which UAH 495.3 billion will be allocated to the needs of the security and defense sector. This was announced by the permanent representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnichuk.

What is known
“The draft Law “On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2024” on financial support for the security and defense sector has been approved.” The bill proposes to adjust the expenditure portion of the general fund of the state budget by UAH 434 billion 603.5 million, including increasing expenses for individual budget programs by UAH 500 billion 311.9 million (of which for the security and defense sector by UAH 495 billion 311.9 million) and to reduce expenses and the provision of loans by UAH 65 billion 708.4 million,” the message says .
According to the head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Budgetary Issues Roksolana Pidlasa, the funds will be allocated for the allowance of the military and for the purchase of military and special equipment.
In particular, 185.8 billion UAH – for the purchase and modernization of military equipment and weapons of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 147.2 billion UAH – for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 48.2 billion UAH – for the National Guard, 41.9 billion UAH – for the State Border Service, 40.7 billion UAH – to the State Special Transport Service of the Ministry of Defense, 15.2 billion UAH – to the National Police, etc.
The same bill proposes to allocate 4.5 billion UAH to replenish the reserve fund of the state budget, 1 billion UAH to allocate for a pilot project for dental prosthetics and provision of routine dental care to war veterans.
It is proposed to reduce expenses, in particular, for servicing the public debt – by UAH 61.8 billion and fulfillment by the state of guarantee obligations for borrowers who received loans under state guarantees – for UAH 3.9 billion.
“As for the sources of covering additional expenses of the state budget, most of the necessary funds are planned to be covered by increasing the revenue side of the state budget ( +214.5 billion UAH), but we will have to borrow 160.2 billion UAH on the domestic market,” added Pidlasa.
