Euroclear will make the first contribution of €1.55 billion to the fund for Ukraine

The international depositary Euroclear will make the first contribution of approximately EUR 1.55 billion to the European fund for Ukraine in July 2024. This was reported in the company's report, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

Euroclear, based on the results of the first half of 2024, received 3.4 billion euros in the form of interest income from investing blocked Russian assets.

In 2023, these incomes amounted to about 4.4 billion euros, in 2022 – 821 million euros. Euroclear's total interest income in January-June this year amounted to 4 billion euros.

The company will also pay taxes on income received from Russian assets in January-June in the amount of 836 million euros.

Thus, Euroclear’s net profit related to the frozen assets of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation for the first half of the year amounted to 760 million euros.

As the agency notes, Euroclear’s balance sheet at the end of June 2024 amounted to 207 billion euros, of which 173 billion euros come from Russian assets under sanctions.
