More than 80% of Ukrainians encountered fraud on the Internet during the year – survey

The vast majority of Ukrainians have encountered Internet fraud over the past year. This is evidenced by the results of a Rakuten Viber survey, in which more than 35 thousand respondents took part.

The study showed that 81% of users had encountered online fraud: 45% of them responded to attacks by intruders, and 36% ignored such incidents. At the same time, 19% had never encountered anything like this.

Rakuten Viber conducted a similar study in July 2023. It turned out that a year later, these figures remained unchanged.

To the question “Have you become a victim of online fraud in the last year?” the answers were distributed as follows:

Rakuten Viber also found out the opinion of Ukrainians regarding the number of Internet fraudsters over the year – whether it has increased or, on the contrary, decreased. 82% of respondents are sure that there are many more attackers. 7% of respondents believe that the number has remained at the same level.

Only 1% of Ukrainians responded that there are fewer cyber fraudsters. The remaining 10% of users are not interested in this issue. As in the previous question, the percentage distribution is similar to the results for 2023.
