“The issue of price regulation in the retail electricity market is important and sensitive for our citizens, especially under the current conditions of martial law. I am confident that it must be resolved through maintaining a balance between the need to mobilize all possible resources for the security of energy supply and adequate social protection of our low-income citizens,” Zelensky noted.

He emphasized that according to the law, it is the government that ensures the implementation of the state price politics and social protection of citizens.

The head of state recalled that the Cabinet of Ministers is implementing a housing subsidy program to help socially vulnerable categories of the population pay for housing and communal services. After the increase in the price of electricity for household consumers from June 1, the Pension Fund will automatically transfer the amount of subsidies for citizens.

“Given the social significance of the issue raised, I appealed to the Prime Minister of Ukraine with a proposal to consider the petition, paying special attention to respect for the constitutional rights and freedoms of citizens, and decide on appropriate response measures,” the president said.

Zelensky also clarified that he additionally proposed accelerating the introduction of measures to create a new decentralized electricity generation, and establishing regular information to the population about the state of affairs in the fuel and energy complex of Ukraine and the use of funds for its restoration, including through international assistance.

Recall

As the Ministry of Finance wrote earlier, in May 2024 the government established a single electricity tariff for the population is 4.32 UAH/kW.
