The network of system operators of continental Europe ENTSO-E, at the request of Ukrenergo, is working on the possibilities of increasing the interstate crossing for the import of electricity from Europe to Ukraine and may accept it before the onset of cold weather. This was announced by the head of the company's board, Vladimir Kudritsky, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

“At our very persistent requests, ENTSO-E is now calculating how to bypass bottlenecks in the European network and how much imports to Ukraine can be increased for the winter in order to reduce the deficit,” Kudritsky said at a briefing at the Media Center in Kyiv on Friday.
He noted that Ukrenergo expects such a decision by winter, “in the coming weeks or months.”
Throughput
Kudritsky noted that the throughput capacity of the Ukrainian network for imports is significant and much more than the 1,700 MW permitted today, and the limiting factor is “certain bottlenecks on the European side.”
“Of course, our goal is to minimize the deficit. By providing opportunities for imports, we are using the main grid to insure generating capacities that were lost due to the Russian attack and delivering resources to consumers,” the head of Ukrenergo explained.
He also noted that the role of imports will be very important until Ukraine restores the destroyed capacities and builds a decentralized system, which is already beginning to emerge.
