If a 15% military tax is introduced in Ukraine for the first registration of cars, buyers of new cars will have to pay an additional 180-280 thousand UAH. This forecast was made by Galina Shipulova, director of the dealer network “Autotrading Atoll Group”, reported AUTO-Consulting.

How much will you have to pay

Thus, according to her calculations, when buying a middle-class car, the consumer pays from 30 to 80 thousand hryvnia in taxes and fees upon registration. After the introduction of new taxes, this amount will increase to 180-280 thousand hryvnia.

Considering the trend of a general deterioration in the well-being of the population, this may lead to a drop in sales by 3 times or even more, the publication writes.

At the same time, Artem Tkachenko, brand director of Volvo in Ukraine, expects that registrations will decrease by 35%, because few people will want to pay additional funds for registering passenger cars.

Earlier, the Ministry of Finance wrote that the Ukrainian car market responded to the government's initiative to introduce a 15% military tax on purchase (first registration of a car). The weekend before last, car dealerships saw a rapid increase in sales.

The government's intention to impose a 15% military tax on motorists upon first vehicle registration could lead to a collapse in sales volumes in the auto market and the loss of entire networks of official auto dealers.

On July 18, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a bill amending the Tax Code, which, in particular, provides for the introduction of a military tax of 15% of the cost of the car.
