It is noted that the gas station is located at a distance of about 5 miles (about 8 km) from the border with Russia.
The publication's analysts suggest that Kyiv may stop deliveries of Russian gas to Europe, using this as a lever of pressure.
“On Thursday, gas was still flowing through Sudzha, the last active loading point of the pipeline transporting Russian natural gas to Europe via Ukraine. Ukraine receives lucrative transit payments but has expressed a desire to end Russia's remaining energy business in Europe,” the article says.
It is also noted that the Russian National Guard announced that it would strengthen security around the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant, which is located about 40 miles (65 km) northeast of the city of Sudzha.
Ukrainian presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak suggested on the telethon that any military action on Russian territory could improve Ukraine's position during upcoming talks with Russia to end the war. He did not specifically mention the Kursk region.
