“At this stage (the concluded agreement – ed.) will first of all facilitate trips of Mauritian investors and businessmen to Ukraine to search for new opportunities to work in our country. After the end of the war, the agreement will help increase the number of Ukrainian tourists in Mauritius,” the statement said.

The agreement will come into force after the completion of internal procedures in both countries.

Development of trade and investment

The ministers specifically discussed the development of trade and investment between the countries. It is noted that Mauritius is one of the most successful economies in Africa with a high GDP in terms of purchasing power parity, ranks first among African countries in the World Bank’s Global Competitiveness Index and 13th in the world in terms of ease of doing business.

In addition, the ministers discussed an agreement on the mutual promotion and protection of investments and an agreement on the avoidance of double taxation. Kuleba welcomed the interest of Mauritian businesses in the restoration of Ukraine and invited the country to the Conference on its restoration.
