Funding needs
“Three years of a full-scale war unleashed by Russia have caused significant damage to the Ukrainian healthcare system. According to the World Bank and the EU, the needs of the healthcare sector are already estimated at more than $19 billion. This figure is interim. However, it is obvious that the healthcare system needs significant investments and their rational use,” said Ukrainian Health Minister Viktor Lyashko.
Let us recall
Compared with the previous RDNA3 assessment, released in February last year, overall losses in the healthcare sector have increased by 8.9%. Recovery and reconstruction needs over the next decade have increased by 14%. In particular, the number of damaged healthcare facilities has increased by 36.7%, pharmacies – by 2.2%.
The greatest damage was recorded in Donetsk (37.8% of the total cost of damage), Kharkiv (12.6%), Luhansk (12.5%) and Kherson (7.3%) regions, where the fighting was most intense.
