Ukraine is ready to ratify a free trade agreement with Turkey, which will happen during the upcoming visit of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at a meeting with Turkish officials and business representatives.

“It is important that Turkish business is already represented in Ukraine. Our state appreciates this, as well as assistance and support, in particular, the supply of “Bayraktors”, – the head of state noted.
He specified that during the meeting, efforts to bring about a fair and lasting peace, the development of bilateral relations, opportunities for cooperation in the production of various types of drones and the participation of Turkish companies in the restoration of Ukraine were discussed.
“Our state considers Turkey as one of our strategic partners, as well as one of our security guarantee partners, and is ready to ratify the free trade agreement with Turkey during the upcoming visit of President Erdogan,” Zelensky said.

“Minfin” wrote that in May 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the ratification of the free trade agreement with Turkey, which was signed back in February 2022.
The agreement provides, in particular, for Turkey to abolish import duties on about 93.4% of industrial goods and 7.6% of agricultural goods. After the end of the transition periods of 3-7 years, Turkey will abolish import duties on another 1.5% of industrial goods and 28.5% of agricultural goods.
Ukraine, for its part, will abolish import duties on about 56% of industrial goods and 11.5% of agricultural goods. After the end of the transition periods (2-5 years for industrial goods, 2-10 years for agricultural goods), Ukraine will abolish import duties on another 43.2% of industrial goods and 53.7% of agricultural goods.
