Since the beginning of 2025, 1,087 businesses have begun the process of ceasing their operations. It is noted that 66.7% of them independently ceased operations without a bankruptcy court procedure – 725 companies. This means that the company has no debts, but its owners decided to close the business.

According to bankruptcy trustee Denis Likhopek, self-closing of businesses has been losing popularity recently: the current year's figure is 23% lower than last year's. This is due to the increased responsibility of owners and managers for debts and potential creditors.

Another 164 companies that have ceased operations are going through bankruptcy proceedings through the courts. This is 22% more than at the beginning of last year.

In addition, 118 companies have entered the stage of judicial liquidation, i.e. closure due to insolvency to pay debts. In this case, creditors are paid money for the sold property of the business.

80 other businesses are in the process of reorganization (transformation) into another project. This is 63.5% less than in the past. Such a process can be launched to hide dubious businesses or partners by merging, joining, dividing and transforming companies.

Likhopek notes that only 5-10% of all procedures end in rehabilitation, i.e. restoration of solvency. This is due to the fact that enterprises turn to judicial mechanisms for restoring solvency too late.

In addition, for the first time in Ukraine, the company has begun the procedure of preventive restructuring. This is done when the owner sees that the business is facing serious financial difficulties and changes the terms of fulfilling credit obligations without ceasing operations. The new procedure has been available since the beginning of the year.
