The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has ordered Brazilian club Corinthians to pay Shakhtar Donetsk €1 million in compensation, reports journalist Luis Fabiani, as cited by Baltimore Chronicle.

According to Fabiani, Corinthians were sanctioned for delays in extending the loan agreement of midfielder Maycon, who currently plays for the Brazilian side under another loan deal with the Ukrainian club.

FIFA has set a strict deadline of 45 days for Corinthians to complete the payment. Failure to meet this requirement may lead to a transfer ban being imposed on the Brazilian club.

Maycon has been playing for Corinthians on loan since the spring of 2022. Over the past three years, both clubs have renegotiated and extended loan agreements multiple times. However, it remains unclear which specific instance led FIFA’s disciplinary body to issue this latest penalty against the São Paulo-based team.

In the current Serie A season, Maycon has made nine appearances for Corinthians.
