The tender valuation makes OpenAI one of the most valuable startups in human history.

Thrive Capital, a venture capital firm led by Josh Kushner, will lead the deal.

The sale of shares was planned in 2023 year, but was delayed after OpenAI's board of directors removed CEO Sam Altman from his position in November.

The company has since brought back Altman and is in the process of appointing a new board of directors.
