The US and Japan strengthened agreements on Ukraine and Russia: details

Japan and the United States will continue to support Ukraine under the agreement signed by the G7 countries. last year.

US Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo and Japanese Deputy Treasury Minister for International Affairs Masato Kanda, following an hour-long meeting, noted that they would work together to maintain and increase sanctions against Russia. Both also said they exchanged candid views on the global economy.

It is worth noting that the G7, which includes Japan, the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, France, Italy and The European Union has pledged in May 2023 to limit Russian exports that finance its military operations in Ukraine. Japan was the chairman of the 2023 group.

In addition, the leaders emphasized that peace «is impossible without the complete and unconditional withdrawal of Russian troops and military equipment», and confirmed that Russia's threats to use nuclear weapons are «inadmissible».
