Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has come up with a new reason for attacking Ukraine. In particular, he shifted responsibility for the war to the RussiansAt the pro-war forum in Tula, he said that without the appropriate «mood» Russians, there would be no bloody war with Ukraine.

According to Putin, the Kremlin began military aggression against Ukraine only because the Russian people wanted it.

“If I were not sure that in our country and in Crimea, and throughout the territory of our vast Motherland, the overwhelming majority of our citizens think like you, I would not do anything in Crimea. But I was sure that both the Crimeans and all of Russia wanted this return to their homeland. Just like the vast majority of people in the country want to help Donbass. They don’t want to throw people there under the wheels of these neo-Nazis,” said the Russian president.

At the same time, Putin added that “nothing would have happened” in the issues of Crimea and Donbass if not for the “attitude society” in Russia.

We recall that it was previously reported that ISW revealed Putin’s long-term plans for the occupied territories of Ukraine.
