The head of Saudi Arabia's General Directorate of Entertainment, Turki Al al-Sheikh, confirmed the postponement of the fight between Ukrainian Alexander Usyk and British boxer Tyson Fury for the title of absolute world heavyweight champion.

“Boy Usik — Fury on February 17 will not take place. The boxing match at the Kingdom Arena in the Arabian capital Riyadh has been postponed to a later date. The disruption of the battle of champions is due to an injury that the Briton received during sparring in the training camp,” he said.

Subsequently, Fury made an official statement regarding the injury. He asked for forgiveness from everyone involved in organizing the fight and the fans, and also promised to work on a speedy return to the ring.

Usyk’s team reacted with restraint to their opponent’s injury. The Ukrainian’s entourage suggested an emergency organization of a title fight for their client. Most likely opponent — mandatory contender for the IBF belt Filip Hrgovic from Croatia.

We recall that it was previously reported that Usyk made an unexpected statement about preparing for the fight with Fury, remembering Klitschko.
