The Economist believes that the dismissal of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Valery Zaluzhny could have unpredictable consequences for Ukraine and President Vladimir Zelensky himself.
In particular, the head of state held the general responsible for the unsuccessful summer counteroffensive.
«The dismissal of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Valery Zaluzhny, is causing concern for another, more important reason. This marks a new and decisive stage in the war — the one in which Zelensky risks making a mistake», — says an article in The Economist.
The publication also noted that when Zelensky replaced Zaluzhny with Syrsky as commander of the Armed Forces as part of a broader reorganization on February 8, it added a sense of fate.
We recall that it was previously reported that the United States is thinking about replacing Zaluzhny and other commanders: Kirby’s official statement.
