The decree on the appointment was signed by President Vladimir Zelensky, URA-Inform reports.
Prior to his new post, Pavlyuk was dismissed from the Ministry of Defense by decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, where he served as First Deputy Minister of Defense. As it turned out, Lieutenant General Pavlyuk has extensive service experience.
He commanded the Ukrainian peacekeeping contingent in Kosovo from July 2006 to April 2007, and also led the 24th separate mechanized brigade from 2010 to 2015.
As a brigade commander, he actively took part in the defense of Ukraine from Russian aggression, distinguishing himself during the liberation of cities such as Slavyansk, Kramatorsk, Seversk and Lisichansk.
From 2015 to 2017, Pavlyuk served as first deputy commander of the operational command «West» Ground Forces, and then from 2017 to 2020 headed this operational command.
He then held a number of high-ranking positions, including commander of the training of the Ground Forces Command, commander of the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) and head of the Kiev OVA, where he was responsible for organizing the defense of Kiev and the Kiev region.
From May 2022 to February 2023, Pavlyuk served as deputy commander of the Ground Forces, and then from February 2023 to February 10, 2024, he served as First Deputy Minister of Defense.
