Syrsky reported that based on the operational situation that had developed around Avdeevka, in order to avoid encirclement and preserve the lives and health of the military, «decided to withdraw our units from the city and switch to defense more advantageous lines».
«Our soldiers worthily fulfilled their military duty, did everything possible to destroy the best Russian military units, inflicted damage on the enemy significant losses in manpower and equipment,” he said.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces added that measures are being taken to stabilize the situation and maintain the positions occupied.
