An earthquake occurred near Zmeiny Island: what is known

On Wednesday, February 28 in the evening, an earthquake occurred in the Black Sea near Zmeiny Island.

This information was reported by the Main Center for Special Control, URA-Inform reports.  

It was recorded by specialists from the Main Center for Special Control. They reported that the tremors occurred around 19:00. Experts assessed them as weak and assigned 2.7 points on the Richter scale.

The Main Center for Special Control notes that the earthquake does not pose a threat to the population, but such vibrations can be felt by residents of the upper floors, which are located indoors.

«The epicenter of the earthquake is in the Black Sea, 17 km south of Zmeiny Island, at a depth of five kilometers. According to the classification of earthquakes, it is classified as barely perceptible. Vibrations are felt only by individuals who are in a calm state indoors, especially on the upper floors», — wrote in the Center.
