In such a common disease as arthritis, in addition to the well-known symptoms — joint pain, inflammation — there are also those that few people know about.

This information was reported by Ua-novosti, reports URA-Inform.

British doctors said that some types of arthritis can be recognized by changes in the eyes. They noted that inflammatory processes affect collagen — the main component of connective tissue.

Therefore, rheumatoid arthritis can affect the sclera and cornea, which are primarily composed of collagen. This can manifest itself, for example, through the so-called dry eye syndrome.

The following signs may indicate it:

— dry eyes;

— blurred vision;

— feeling as if there is a foreign body in the eye.

As for rheumatoid arthritis itself, doctors say that such health problems usually begin at the age of 40-50 years. Moreover, women are three times more susceptible to this disease. Early diagnosis allows you to prevent the development of painful symptoms.
