The head of the Zaporozhye regional military administration, Ivan Fedorov, said that as of the evening of March 23, the situation at the Dnieper hydroelectric power station dam was under control. Now there is no threat of its breakthrough.

The official said that he held a meeting with the participation of Deputy Minister of Environment and Natural Resources of Ukraine Elena Kramarenko and Chairman of the State Environmental Inspectorate of Ukraine Igor Zubovich.

It discussed the most important issues of the environmental situation that has developed in the Zaporozhye region as a result of enemy shelling.

«One of the issues on the agenda — operational information on localizing the consequences of the shelling of the DneproGES and the current situation. And, of course, analysis of possible environmental consequences in the future», — wrote Fedorov.

He also noted that according to «Ukrhydroenergo» — the situation at the dam is controlled: there is no threat of a dam failure, and no leakage of petroleum products has been recorded.

According to Ivan Fedorov, there is now a decrease in the concentration of petroleum products in the water.

According to the director &#171 ;Ukrhydroenergo» Igor Sirota, on the night of Friday, March 22, in Zaporozhye there were two direct hits on the Dnieper hydroelectric power station — HPP-1 and HPP-2 were damaged. It is still unknown whether it will be possible to restore GES-2; it is badly damaged.
