Ukrainian intelligence services, collaborating with Polish law enforcement agencies, uncovered the activities of a Russian agent who was plotting an assassination attempt on the President of Ukraine.
This information was reported by the telegram channel “Operational Armed Forces of Ukraine”, reports “URA-Inform”.
As it turned out, the suspect collected information about the security of the Rzeszow-Jasionka airport and passed it on to the Russian special services, possibly for the purpose of organizing an attack on Vladimir Zelensky in Poland.
SBU officers and Ukrainian prosecutors provided their Polish colleagues with the necessary evidence to help prevent a possible assassination attempt. This was done within the framework of international cooperation and legal assistance.
The detention of the Russian agent took place on the territory of Poland, after his identification by the intelligence services. The Polish prosecutor's office charged him with assisting a foreign intelligence service, which is qualified under the criminal legislation of the Republic of Poland.
The District Court of Warsaw, at the request of the Polish prosecutor's office, decided to detain the attacker in order to ensure security and further investigation of this incident.
