The recently adopted new law on mobilization makes changes to the duties of men of military age, including those who are abroad.

According to the new rules, men liable for military service will no longer be able to obtain passports abroad, and will also be limited in consular services. Living and working abroad without a passport from your home country has become possible thanks to the so-called «gray» passport or foreigner's passport.
«Grey» passport — This is a temporary document that can be obtained by a stateless person of the country where he lives. It is valid for a limited period and simplifies your stay abroad. Rules for obtaining «gray» passports for Ukrainians vary depending on the country.
For example, in Germany, Ukrainians can obtain a Reiseausweis für Ausländer (foreigner's travel document), which is valid for no more than 3 years.
With it, their the owner can travel to EU countries without a visa for a period of up to 90 days and stay in Germany. However, such «gray» the document does not replace an identity card; this requires a residence permit in the form of a plastic card.
«Gray» A German passport for Ukrainians can be obtained from the migration service. However, it will not be possible to enter the territory of Ukraine with a foreigner’s passport without a Ukrainian foreign passport.
