American judge Mark Nelson was chosen to preside over the fight between Ukrainian boxer Alexander Usik and British Tyson Fury for the absolute world championship title in super heavyweight.
This information is reported by URA-Inform, citing Boxing Social.
This year, Mark Nelson has already worked in three championship fights. Among his charges were James Moloney (bantamweight), Takuma Inue (lightweight) and Luis Alberto Lopez (featherweight), all of these fights ended in victories, two of them by knockout.
However, Mark Nelson received a disastrous fame back in 2017 after his work on the Manny Pacquiao vs. Jeff Horn fight. Some critics criticized him for not stopping the fight after Horn became disoriented from Pacquiao's punches, and for missing two head kicks from the Australian.
It is worth noting that Usyk's fight against Fury is scheduled on May 18 in the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh. The fight will take place at the Kingdom Arena. Both boxers own all the major belts – WBA, WBO, IBF, IBO and WBC.
Recall that Ukraine won the first medal of the season in the Diamond League: who won silver in Doha.
