During April 20-26, 2024, the Kiev International Institute of Sociology conducted a survey of Ukrainian refugees.

This information was reported by the KIIS survey, URA-Inform reports.

It is reported that 801 respondents were interviewed using online interviews. The survey involved adult citizens aged 18 years and older who left Ukraine after February 24, 2022 and are now living in Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic.

According to the survey, 66% of Ukrainian refugees surveyed in the above-mentioned countries are somewhat or completely satisfied with their current living conditions in the new country. 26% of respondents are dissatisfied with their living conditions.

Also, 7% of respondents claim that they already have citizenship of another country, and another 12% have submitted documents and are waiting for a decision. They have not applied and do not plan to do so — 34% refugees. However, almost half of the respondents, namely 45%, although they did not apply for a change of citizenship, have a desire to become citizens of another country.

People were also asked under what conditions they would return back to Ukraine. The largest number of respondents, namely 34%, said that they would return to their homeland if critical infrastructure functions normally. Another 34% of Ukrainian refugees consider security the main condition for returning to Ukraine.

26% of respondents said that they were most concerned about the housing issue, and another 26% of respondents named the end of a full-scale war as a condition for returning to Ukraine. 16% of people are worried about employment, and 13% are worried about the conditions for attending kindergartens and schools for their children.

It is noted that 50% of respondents are those who are more likely to return to Ukraine.

“However, taking into account the respondents’ answers to the question further regarding interest in Ukraine, this assessment is rather an optimistic scenario in the current conditions,” — sociologists note.
