Recently Bavarian Prime Minister and Chairman of the CSU party, Markus Söder, said that his state could “send” Ukrainian men of military age back to their homeland if Ukraine officially requests it.
This statement was made in an interview for the Münchner Merkur newspaper, URA-Inform reports.
Söder stressed that this step would only be considered in the event of an official request from Ukraine. The Bavarian Prime Minister did not provide any other details on this issue, leaving many questions unanswered.
Söder's statement is also connected with his position on reducing aid to Ukrainian refugees. The CSU party, in alliance with the CDU, is in opposition to the current German government. This adds a political tint to his statements and intensifies the debate over the country's migration and military policies.
It is important to note that the current German government has previously stated that it will not forcibly return men subject to military service to Ukraine. This position differs from Söder's statements, highlighting the differences between the opposition and the government on issues of aid to Ukrainian refugees and mobilization.
Markus Söder's statement raises concerns among Ukrainian men in Bavaria and other regions of Germany. A possible return to their homeland could be additional stress for them and cause new difficulties.
Let us recall whether Ukrainians are ready to pay taxes like in the EU: a poll showed what people think.
