Richard Grenell, the former US ambassador to Germany and interim director of national intelligence under Donald Trump, proposed creating &#171 in Ukraine ;autonomous zones» and refrain from its entry into NATO.

This information came from Bloomberg, reports URA-Inform.

The National Convention of the Republican Party in Milwaukee became the platform for a statement by Grenell, who expressed the opinion that achieving a peace agreement in Ukraine is possible through maintaining the territorial integrity of the country, but with the creation of autonomous regions.

“Autonomous zones may have different meanings for different people, but the details of this need to be carefully worked out,” Grenell explained, without going into specifics.

Grenell also expressed the opinion that in the near future Ukraine will not should join NATO, which could spark additional discussions among the international community.

Bloomberg notes that Grenell's initiative will likely meet resistance from Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. Previously, discussions on regional autonomy concerned Donbass within the framework of the Minsk agreements, which provided for a special status for these territories.

Despite his statements, Grenell emphasized that he does not represent the official position of Donald Trump and has not discussed this issue with him directly .

Richard Grenell's proposal to create autonomous zones in Ukraine and refuse its entry into NATO adds a new round to the discussion of the future of Ukraine. This plan may face serious challenges both domestically and internationally.

Let us recall what Zelensky thinks about the Trump presidency: the leader of Ukraine made a confession.
