Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is confident that Donald Trump, a candidate in the upcoming US presidential elections, is capable of ending the war in Ukraine.

Johnson believes that Trump understands the serious long-term consequences of a possible defeat for Ukraine for America and the world. A recent conversation with Trump reinforced Johnson's belief that Trump can help Ukraine.
In his opinion, Trump realizes that the defeat of Ukraine will be a huge blow not only for freedom and democracy, but also for the Ukrainian people, who may find themselves enslaved. Johnson also noted that he believes in Trump’s ability to end the war on terms beneficial to Ukraine and the West.
While Johnson can't accurately predict what Trump will do if he's elected, he believes Trump can actually do it. The ex-prime minister is confident that Trump could create conditions for peace in which Vladimir Putin would be convinced of the need to recognize Ukraine as a free, sovereign and independent European country.
Johnson claims that the West has supported Ukraine for the past two years , but did not provide her with sufficient means to win. Trump, in his opinion, could eliminate bureaucratic obstacles and provide the necessary resources.
Johnson believes Putin will be forced to retreat at least to pre-invasion borders in 2022. To avoid future conflicts, the rest of Ukraine must be recognized as a free country, able to choose its own path, including possible membership in the EU and NATO.
Johnson also believes that a Ukrainian victory in the war with Russia will open the way to improved relations with Moscow. He mentioned that there are various incentives that could influence Putin, such as the announcement that his “special military operation” was successful and Ukraine was “denazified.”
Measures may be in place for the Russian-speaking population protection. Johnson noted that with Trump in the White House, there is a real prospect of a global rapprochement with Russia and a return to the days when it was a respected G8 partner.
At the same time, Johnson emphasized that there is only one way to achieve this result – by force. Washington under Trump will have to show that international borders must be respected and that the Soviet empire cannot be restored by force.
