A mass media plan is being discussed in Lithuania evacuation of the population.

This information was reported by LRT, reports “URA-Inform”.

It is reported that the Minister of the Interior Agne Bilotaite discussed the mass evacuation of the population in a military scenario with representatives of the Ministries of Defence and Transport, the National Crisis Management Centre and other interested institutions.

According to her, the duties and tasks of various departments have been agreed upon in preparation for the evacuation of residents, and specific data on the capabilities and needs are expected from local governments.

It is worth noting that in early July, the Ministry of Internal Affairs sent a written request for evacuation to the local government. It also asked them to assess the possibilities and necessity of its implementation within a month and a half – to provide the number of residents who are planned to be evacuated by category, evacuation routes, transport and existing contracts for its use, the required number of people to carry out the evacuation, and the missing funding.

«According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the data collected now should be included in the evacuation plan. In developing it, Lithuania relies on the example of Northern European countries, which have evacuation plans for both wartime and peacetime,» the publication writes.

After preparing the evacuation plan, a new version of the description of the procedure for organizing the evacuation of residents will be approved by a government resolution. The plan will also be tested during state-level civil defense exercises scheduled to take place in the fall of 2024.

Recall that earlier it was reported that the Russian Federation was preparing to launch a massive attack on Ukraine: Zhdanov warned when and where the enemy might strike.
