Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Celaku was asked to comment on the situation with Russian drones, fragments of which were found on Romanian territory in recent nights.

This information was reported by Digi24, as reported by URA-Inform.

The politician stated that Romania does not have the ability to shoot down drones over Ukraine. In addition, the fall of Russian drone fragments on Romanian territory does not pose a threat to local residents.

“In order to shoot them down, we must open fire on Ukrainian territory, and I believe that this is not yet allowed, I have not heard of any decision on this issue,” he explained.

Colaku said that, according to aerial intelligence, Russian drones near the border with Romania in the Danube region are usually shot down by the Ukrainian side.

«So far there is no danger for the Romanians in this area», — the head of the Romanian government is confident.

He added that after previous incidents, Romania took security measures and increased air patrols. Previously, Romania scrambled F-16 fighter jets due to Russia's attack on southern Ukraine using suicide bombers.

The Romanian Ministry of Defense later confirmed that the debris identified as parts of a drone « Geranium1/2» of Russian origin, were found in one of three places identified as possible impact areas.

Recall that it was previously reported that Lithuania is developing a plan for mass evacuation of the population: what is the reason.
