As it turned out, in Germany a political dispute is flaring up around the provision of financial assistance to Ukrainian refugees.

This information was reported by the publication Funke, reports “URA-Inform”.

The Secretary General of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), Carsten Linnemann, has proposed ending financial support for those who are not officially employed.

Linnemann noted that in Germany, “a six-figure number of people fundamentally do not want to work.” He believes that the state should focus on those who really need help, and a complete end to basic payments is, in his opinion, a necessary step.

“Reducing payments by 10, 20 or 30 percent is not enough. Basic assistance must be completely abolished,” the oppositionist said.

He also pointed to the need for reforms in social support policy. Linnemann expressed a desire to see a “fair system of social support,” noting that the current basic income system is unfair.

The politician emphasized that in a number of European countries, more than 50 percent of Ukrainian refugees work, while in Germany this figure is only 25 percent. He is sure that this is due to a lack of incentives for employment.

«We need to discuss why in many European countries more than 50 percent of Ukrainians work, while in Germany only 25 percent. There is a clear lack of incentives to quickly get to work,» Linnemann said.
