Expert Institute of Energy Strategies Yuriy Korolchuk emphasized that the termination of Russian gas transit could be disadvantageous for Ukraine itself.
This information was reported by Dialog, as reported by URA-Inform.
In his opinion, Ukraine needs the transit of Russian gas, regardless of its perception.
According to Korolchuk, firstly, gas transit helps maintain optimal pressure in the country's pipeline system. Otherwise, the cost of delivering gas to various regions will increase, and in homes Ukrainians will not always be warm.
«If it is not this transit, then the price of gas delivery to an individual consumer will increase, for example, to Volyn, Odessa, Nikolaev regions», — the expert warned.
Korolchuk also noted that Ukrainians should not count on a third warm winter in a row.
«The average person won't spend a long time delving into where this gas comes from,— the expert predicted the discontent of gas users.
< p>In addition, he is confident that interest in Ukrainian transit will not disappear, since 15-20 billion cubic meters of gas are required by Hungary, Italy and Slovakia.
Recall that earlier it was reported that Hungary gave Ukraine an ultimatum: the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs made warning to Kyiv.
